Securing applications using Micro Focus® Fortify on Demand

Change Healthcare, which runs the largest financial and administrative healthcare network in the U.S., faced mounting pressure to safeguard patient data and its business reputation while keeping application security affordable and timely. Acquisitions had multiplied development environments and languages, testing was slow and outsourced (taking up to a week), tools produced many false positives, and there was no centralized process to scale security across hundreds of developers and meet compliance demands.

The company implemented Micro Focus Fortify on Demand (with Fortify WebInspect) as a cloud-based, integrated security testing service, making testing part of developers’ workflows. Results include cutting testing time from seven days to under 48 hours (most scans return in about six hours), a tenfold increase in applications tested, far fewer false positives, an 800% reduction in testing costs, improved auditability and compliance, and stronger protection of customer data and reputation.
