A OpenText Case Study
Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s state‑owned electric and water utility, serves millions of residents but was struggling to manage growing volumes of electronic records and dispersed engineering drawings stored on network drives and in paper libraries. With about 1,800 employees and decades of legacy drawings, the utility faced version‑control, duplication and safety risks and needed a centralized, records‑aware solution.
Santee Cooper implemented OpenText Document Management, Records Management and Physical Objects, scanning roughly 500,000 documents, centralizing drawings, and using workflow and retention classifications to enforce version control and lifecycle rules behind the scenes. The result: fewer manual processes and duplicated files, improved knowledge sharing and compliance, and increased productivity and safety across operations.
