A OpenText Case Study
Salzgitter AG, a leading German steel and technology group with around 25,500 employees and nearly 200 subsidiaries, faced fragmented information management across its SAP NetWeaver Portal and multiple “islands” of documents and processes. Its IT subsidiary GESIS needed faster access to the right information, unified retention and email handling, mobile access, and stronger compliance and version control to relieve administrative burden and support complex, regulated projects.
GESIS implemented a group-wide ECM strategy using OpenText Portal Content Management and Portal Site Management tightly integrated into the SAP portal, creating a central staff portal and a digital construction file for project collaboration. The platform reduced administration and compliance risk, improved knowledge transfer and productivity, enabled reuse across projects for better economies of scale, and increased employee satisfaction.
