Salt River Project gains valuable insight for time- and cost-saving advances with OpenText ProVision

Salt River Project (SRP) is a large Arizona utilities organization that supplies electricity to about 930,000 retail customers and delivers nearly one million acre-feet of water annually. SRP’s customer service CRM (PHOENIX) was outdated after a lengthy implementation, causing gaps in business rules, inconsistent documentation, poor IT–business communication, and rising demand for new projects—including complex initiatives like smart metering—that required better requirement scoping and process visibility.

To address this, SRP created a business process solutions group and adopted OpenText ProVision for enterprise architecture, process modeling and analysis. ProVision enabled governance-driven prioritization, reusable process models (100+ as‑is and 135 smart‑meter models), and mandatory process definition deliverables. The result was faster, lower‑cost delivery (a credit‑screen pilot cost $800K vs. $6M previously, an ~85% saving), improved cross‑functional visibility, better scope and budget control, and greater agility for future projects.
