Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus selects high-performance data storage technologies for a modern hospital

Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus (RBK) is a foundation-run maximum-care hospital in Stuttgart with more than 1,000 beds, 2,700 staff and over 43,000 annual admissions. Its 30‑person IT team faced double‑digit data growth, aging storage and tape migration needs, and growing demands for automated, auditable backup/restore processes with long-term (30‑year) archiving and fast recovery for critical systems like PACS, HIS and databases.

RBK selected Micro Focus Data Protector with partner Bükotec, deploying a mirrored 3PAR storage environment with SSD tiers, StoreOnce deduplication and automated backups for physical and virtual servers. A PoC moved to production in six months; radiology image load times fell from 20s to 2s, each mirror now holds ~220 TB, restores complete in minutes, backup windows shortened, regulatory archiving requirements are met, and overall manageability and SLA compliance significantly improved.
