A OpenText Case Study
RI-Solution, a Munich-based IT services firm founded in 2002, supports large enterprises with complex infrastructures (70 TB of data, 650 application servers, 2,000 SAP clients and 8–10k daily users). Although it had used Micro Focus Data Protector since 2009, upgrades in 2014–15 introduced stability issues across its heterogeneous HANA/SAP/Microsoft/VMware/Linux/StoreOnce environment, causing hundreds of daily backup errors and threatening service-level commitments.
Micro Focus assigned a Customer Success Manager who implemented a step-by-step Get‑Well plan in 2016—assessing the backup environment, fixing root causes, creating a Data Protector test environment, and providing proactive support. The improvements simplified and stabilized backups (now >4,300 daily backups with only 10–20 issues vs. 200–250 before), reduced troubleshooting to 1–2 hours per day, and freed RI‑Solution’s IT team to focus on strategic work and new client offerings.
