A OpenText Case Study
Channel 4 is a publicly owned, commercially funded UK broadcaster that receives around 20,000 programme proposals a year from over 5,000 production companies. Its commissioning process was highly manual, fragmented and lacked visibility—submissions were duplicated, reviews took months, and the channel struggled to meet its 28-day response remit, risking lost ideas and strained supplier relationships.
By deploying an OpenText MBPM-based Producer’s Portal (with implementation support from ProcessTrack), Channel 4 automated and centralized eCommissioning, giving internal editors and external producers 24/7 visibility and self-service data management. The portal cut proposal turnaround from more than two weeks to as little as 24 hours, improved relationships and market reputation, enabled cost savings and resource redeployment into production, and supported faster, timely news commissioning.
