Pick n Pay - Customer Case Study

Pick n Pay is a leading South African retailer with over 1,650 stores across seven countries that has seen rapid growth in online shopping and launched new digital services (including 60‑minute grocery delivery). To support this shift and a move toward DevOps, the company needed to accelerate e‑commerce releases, eliminate manual testing, and improve visibility, traceability and quality across platforms and devices while keeping mission‑critical SAP systems running 24/7.

Working with VicIT, Pick n Pay migrated its automated tests to Micro Focus ALM Octane (SaaS) integrated with UFT One, UFT Mobile, Service Virtualization, Jira and Bamboo. The weekend migration and shift‑left automation enabled synchronized test reporting in Jira, earlier defect detection, and much faster releases—reducing software production cycles from 5–6 weeks to about 12 days and now moving to weekly releases, running some 3,000 tests weekly—while cutting QA time and improving overall quality and management visibility.
