PG Group reduces costs and improves SAP performance with OpenText

PG Group, a Cape Town–based manufacturer and distributor of automotive and building glass, relied on a shared-service finance center running SAP but suffered from a rapidly growing database and little historic data removal. This led to poor system performance—daily and periodic reports sometimes took more than a day or timed out—plus rising storage costs and lost user productivity.

Working with partner EOH, PG Group implemented OpenText Data Archiving for SAP Solutions to move nearly 1 TB of historic data (compressed to around 111 GB) out of the production database while keeping it accessible in the SAP interface. The change dramatically improved system responsiveness: many reports that took days now run in hours or instantly, storage and total cost of ownership decreased, and users can work more efficiently.
