Pflugerville ISD turns to SEP and Retain Unified Archiving for SAN and Server Migration, Disaster Recovery, and Information Archiving

Pflugerville Independent School District needed a better way to protect and archive its email while replacing an inefficient tape backup process. The district turned to OpenText, using OpenText GroupWise Disaster Recovery and OpenText Retain Unified Archiving to support seven GroupWise post offices, retain faculty and staff email for seven years, and student email for two.

OpenText implemented nightly backups and archiving that made email restoration faster, easier, and more reliable. The district gained immediate backup protection, reduced backup-related workload, moved to more cost-effective Linux servers, and cut service desk calls for its 30,000 users. It also improved public-records email retrieval and reduced mailbox database size on the SAN.
