Paperless Processes: the German Armed Forces’ Mobility Service Provider Implements Vehicle Files with OpenText

BwFuhrparkService GmbH is the Federal Armed Forces’ mobility service provider, operating 24 mobility centers and 120 service stations with a fleet of more than 27,000 vehicles and 1,800 employees. Because vehicles generate up to 200 different document types each and operations are highly decentralized, critical information was fragmented in paper, email and fax—SAP held only structured data—making retrieval slow, error-prone and a legal risk.

BwFuhrparkService implemented OpenText integrated with SAP (SAP Archiving and SAP Document Access by OpenText) to create digital vehicle files, with plans to extend email management and SAP xECM enterprise-wide. The solution now supports over 27,000 files and 5+ million documents, delivering near-paperless processes, faster access and processing, reduced storage costs and greater legal and operational transparency.
