UNOWHY, a fast-growing company managing a high volume of device data, needed a better way to store, cross-reference, and analyze information for device management and predictive analytics. Its previous transactional database struggled with scale and couldn’t retain enough history for advanced analysis, so UNOWHY evaluated OpenText Vertica, including Vertica in Eon Mode and VerticaPy, as part of a proof of concept.

OpenText implemented Vertica in Eon Mode with VerticaPy to centralize data in S3, support Kubernetes-based deployment, and run machine learning directly in the database. The result was faster processing and lower data management costs: UNOWHY now ingests, unifies, logs, and cross-references 20-minute device data streams in under 10 minutes, while also storing three years of historical data and improving device-owner identification and user experience.
