Case Study: New York City Transit achieves real-time route performance improvements with OpenText Information Hub

A OpenText Case Study

Preview of the New York City Transit Case Study

Opentext™ Information Hub Helps New York City Transit Authority Enable Public Transparency And System Improvement

New York City Transit (NYCT), the largest transit network in North America serving millions of riders across subway and bus lines, faced the challenge of turning millions of daily data points—from GTFS feeds, Bus Time GPS, vehicle sensors and other sources—into timely, actionable information. Legacy Excel-based, quarterly reporting couldn’t support the department’s need for daily, self-service analytics, real-time troubleshooting and cross-department transparency.

NYCT implemented OpenText Information Hub (iHub), branded internally as ORCA, to connect to multiple data sources, MongoDB and Google Maps, deliver mobile-accessible dashboards and run ~80 real-time and nightly reports. The platform enabled better visualization and decision-making, faster response to service issues, greater transparency and significant cost savings (supporting twice the users with the same team), while reducing complaints and improving overall route performance.
