Case Study: Pulselight improves opioid overdose prevention and real-time analytics with OpenText Vertica

A OpenText Case Study

Preview of the Pulselight Case Study

OpenText™ illuminates real-time data intelligence on 1.5 billion daily records so Pulselight can bring meaningful insights to complex healthcare questions

Pulselight needed to unify and analyze millions of records from Medicaid claims, hospitals, doctors, pharmacies, and other sources to support state-wide data sharing and identify people at risk of opioid misuse and overdose. Using OpenText Vertica, Pulselight built an analytics architecture that could process massive datasets and provide real-time insights through interactive web applications.

OpenText implemented Vertica to fuse, cleanse, enrich, and correlate data at scale, including up to 1.5 billion records per day, enabling predictive analytics and machine learning on more than 100 features. The result was faster alerts, targeted outreach, and measurable reductions in opioid prescribing for notified providers and attendees of education programs, while also helping some individuals receive their first substance use disorder treatment after outreach.
