OpenText streamlines move to a new energy pricing model with advanced analytics benefiting all market participants

The Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization (CCEE) faced a major data challenge as Brazil’s energy pricing model shifted from weekly to hourly updates, creating a huge increase in data volume and exposing performance limits in its existing Oracle warehouse. CCEE needed a scalable big data platform that could integrate with Oracle and its BI tools while handling 10TB of historical data and daily increments, and it chose OpenText Vertica to meet that need.

OpenText implemented Vertica in a phased rollout with IMExperts, integrating it with Oracle and Tableau to deliver near-real-time analytics and self-service dashboards. The results were dramatic: some queries dropped from more than five hours to under five minutes, BI report access improved by 40%, historical data compression exceeded 55%, platform availability rose from 99.3% to 99.9%, and administration effort fell to just half an FTE, reducing total cost of ownership.
