A OpenText Case Study
Equitable Life & Casualty Insurance Company, a Salt Lake City–based insurer serving people 55+ and licensed in 45 states, was struggling to produce 400 policies a day with a two-person production team locked into a proprietary print vendor system. The legacy workflow created thousands of unique templates, required manual, error-prone updates for state and client variations, limited archive access, and made communications hard to maintain and scale.
Equitable implemented OpenText Exstream, converting policies and moving to a reusable, PDF-based workflow with Exstream Professional Services support, improved reporting and automation, and plans for multichannel delivery and e-signatures. As a result, policy production and underwriting times were cut by 50%, unique document templates fell from ~18,000 to under 1,000 (including consolidation of 43 state variations to one), archive access was extended beyond 90 days, and staffing and cost efficiencies were realized.
