Opentext Document Management, Edocs Edition Forms Backbone Of Critical Business Processes For Enterprise-Wide Documentation

The Norwegian Bar Association (Advokatforeningen), which represents over 8,000 advocates in Norway, faced rapid growth in documentation—about 400 new items weekly—and needed to move from a hybrid archive to a true digital archive. Key challenges included faster access to documents to improve member service, updating the desktop environment (Windows 7/Office 2010), and creating a platform for future capabilities like records management while meeting data protection and compliance requirements.

Working with partner Contesto, the Association upgraded to OpenText Document Management, eDOCS Edition 5.3, scanned historical records into the system, and implemented a custom Office integration and CRM export to ensure consistent PDF production, access control and audit logging. The two-month project delivered high user adoption (about 90% rely on eDOCS daily), much faster document retrieval for immediate member support, secure compliant records handling, and a foundation for future records management.
