A OpenText Case Study
South East Water, the Melbourne utility serving 1.3 million people and managing more than 370 water treatment sites, faced a growing engineering-document challenge: an archive of over 35,000 drawings and schematics that many staff and contractors couldn’t open because they lacked CAD software. The company’s workaround—converting drawings to PDF or TIFF—reduced fidelity and created indexing, search and maintenance gaps that slowed processes and risked using outdated plans.
To fix this, South East Water augmented its OpenText Content Suite Platform with OpenText Brava!, which lets users view, annotate and collaborate on virtually any file format (including AutoCAD and MicroStation) without expensive design tools. Brava! consolidated markups, improved version control, enabled stronger indexing and in-platform viewing, and reduced the need to rasterize drawings—delivering faster access, higher-quality information, and measurable time, cost and quality improvements.
