OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint provides attorneys with a single interface to all client and matter information

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz is a U.S. law firm with 22 offices and more than 560 attorneys that needed to consolidate and manage growing volumes of case documents, billing, contact and financial data spread across office-specific (non‑remote) eDOCS libraries. The firm’s challenge was to give attorneys a single, matter‑centric interface to search, access and edit client and matter information in real time while preserving version control, security and a consistent SharePoint user experience.

Baker Donelson implemented Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 integrated with OpenText Document Management (eDOCS) and OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for SharePoint, enabling federated search across 14 DM libraries, SharePoint web parts for direct document access and synchronization back to eDOCS. The result: faster, context‑driven searches, improved collaboration, a “single version of the truth,” maintained audit trails and security, strong user adoption (about 80% of offices migrated so far) and measurable productivity and time‑savings for attorneys.
