A OpenText Case Study
Timberland, the global maker of premium footwear and apparel, faced fragmented and manual media storage—images on DVDs and shared drives—leading to duplicated assets, lost time and productivity, inconsistent global usage, and legal risk from unclear usage rights. Without a centralized process, teams across regions struggled to find, share, and track rights for rich media and design files.
Timberland implemented Open Text’s digital asset management (branded internally as Gear Box) to create a secure, searchable repository with role-based access, usage-rights controls, bulk uploads, and one-click downloads, contact sheets, and sets for sharing. The system (now ~400 users) improved global collaboration and media re-use, eliminated disk burning and international shipping, increased productivity, and reduced legal and operational risk.
