Preview of the Notre Dame Case Study

Notre Dame finds VM Explorer fast and affordable. The prestigious school in Surrey, England protects 5 TB of data on more than 30 virtual servers

Notre Dame needed a reliable, cost-effective way to back up vital educational data across a mixed virtualization environment, including Hyper-V and VMware, while also protecting systems such as its student information system, Microsoft SharePoint, and Sage 200. OpenText’s VM Explorer was selected to handle regular full and incremental backups, with jobs scheduled outside school hours to minimize disruption.

OpenText implemented VM Explorer so Notre Dame could back up to local HPE DL380 storage and a legacy NAS device, while also restoring specific files quickly through Backup Explorer. The solution was easy to set up in less than 30 minutes, ran largely automatically, and improved staff productivity; incremental backups took only minutes and full backups about half a day, delivering a simple, flexible, and affordable backup process.
