A OpenText Case Study
Northamptonshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service, a 650‑person public service operating across 22 stations, faced tight budgets and a need to modernize routine workflows—particularly post‑incident debriefs, health and safety reporting and estate management—that were time‑consuming, paper‑heavy and constrained by limited early IT adoption. The service needed better ways to gather feedback, meet compliance requirements and reduce administrative overhead without compromising emergency response.
Working with ask‑4® and using OpenText Business Process Management, the service automated key processes—most notably the debrief—by sending email notifications, using mobile access and SSO, and prepopulating electronic forms. The changes delivered faster, lower‑cost updates, stronger security, improved audit and reporting, fewer meetings and less paperwork, boosting staff efficiency, inter‑agency collaboration and overall service quality (helping the service learn faster and ultimately save lives).
