Muskegon Family Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Michigan, provides medical, dental and behavioral health services regardless of patients’ ability to pay. Hit by COVID-19 pressures, the organization faced a costly, fragmented endpoint management approach—150 desktops and laptops required monthly in-person updates (about four hours per device), had no automated third‑party patching, and only 65% patch compliance—prompting a review to cut costs and improve security.
Muskegon deployed Micro Focus ZENworks (Configuration Management, Patch Management, Full Disk Encryption) with Vertica for analytics to automate application distribution, remote support, inventory and patching. Patch compliance rose to over 90%, device update time fell from four hours to roughly 30 minutes (about 90% time savings), they achieved full ROI within a year, and now report ongoing ~90% annual operational savings along with stronger security and more IT time for clinical support.
