Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Improves Efficiencies with OpenText

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), a nonprofit regional association serving local, state and federal partners in the DC area, faced inefficient, paper-based processes that led to lost forms, no searchable records or backups, and growing storage needs. Manual HR and contract approvals and scattered project documentation made remote work and timely reporting difficult and risked critical records such as pension and board decision histories.

COG implemented OpenText Content Server and OpenText Workflow with Nanavati Consulting, digitizing archives (pilot: 1,400 CPAS documents), creating HR and contract workflows, and launching in four to five months. The searchable repository and automated routing gave all 130 staff access to secure records, sped approvals from days to hours, eliminated lost documents, freed office space, and delivered measurable time and cost savings.
