Metropolitan - Customer Case Study

Metropolitan, the fourth-largest listed life insurer in South Africa with about 9,800 employees and 4.3 million customers, needed to improve the speed and reliability of its disaster recovery for “day one” servers—primarily Active Directory and SQL Server instances. Its previous DR relied on manual interventions and unpredictable outcomes, with some servers taking up to two days to recover.

After a rigorous proof-of-concept, Metropolitan deployed PlateSpin Forge appliances to protect its critical workloads. The appliances simplified failover/failback, centralized management and testing, and reduced manual effort—enabling most servers to be recovered in about 40 minutes and restoring the corporate network within three hours, while improving predictability and business confidence.
