A OpenText Case Study
Medicaid Program needed to keep up with the healthcare industry’s shift from fee-for-service to value-based care, which drove rapid growth in Medicaid data volumes, user demand, and analytical complexity. Its traditional Oracle row-based database was struggling to scale and risked missing performance commitments, so the program worked with OpenText (formerly Vertica) through CMA to find a more scalable analytics platform.
OpenText’s Analytics Platform, paired with Mosaic DART for fast data migration, gave Medicaid Program a column-compressed, high-performance environment for large-scale queries and multi-user analysis. The result was faster daily analysis workloads by nearly 75%, full fact-table scans dropping from about 25 minutes to under a minute, and complex queries running 80%+ faster; the solution also required about three times less hardware and was estimated to be 10 times less expensive to own than the prior setup.
