Large educational institution automates and streamlines backup and recovery by moving to the cloud

Rochester Institute of Technology was looking for a better way to protect faculty and staff data across multiple devices, and evaluated several options including Dropbox and CrashPlan before choosing OpenText Connected MX. The college needed a solution that was easier to administer, supported cloud backup, and could handle users working on laptops, desktops, and even from home or overseas.

OpenText implemented Connected MX with a pilot on 10 computers, then a phased rollout using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager to deploy it to 130 computers and later 200. The result was an estimated 12% reduction in backup costs, protection for more data across up to five devices per user, faster self-service restores, and less IT workload. OpenText also helped Rochester Institute of Technology avoid extra storage hardware, improve backup compliance, and reduce restoration and administration time.
