A OpenText Case Study
Lahey Health, an integrated delivery network of hospitals, primary and specialty care, and post-acute services in New England, moved to the Epic EHR to deliver timelier, evidence-based care. The organization faced a major challenge: large amounts of unstructured legacy data spread across multiple systems that couldn’t be practically migrated into Epic, making it hard for clinicians to get a complete, longitudinal view of patients at the point of care.
Lahey partnered with OpenText to build a Clinical Archiving solution using Documentum, Captiva and a vendor-neutral XML archive, plus a Documentum–Epic connector so historical records appear inside Epic Hyperspace with one click. The approach preserved compliance and immutability of legacy data, eliminated the need to leave the EHR, improved clinical efficiency and decision-making, and helped attract potential affiliates to Lahey Health.
