SkyMedia SRL needed a big data search platform that could integrate with its ExS2 system and handle growing document repositories more efficiently. After evaluating alternatives, SkyMedia chose OpenText Knowledge Discovery and OpenText Vertica Analytics Platform from OpenText to support fast search and analytics across scientific, legal, and healthcare data.

OpenText implemented Knowledge Discovery with SkyMedia’s ExS2 platform and paired it with Vertica for large healthcare datasets, enabling much faster retrieval and query performance. SkyMedia reported search speeds 99% faster than SQL on more than 500,000 indexed document sections, complex queries in under five seconds on 600,000 health records, five-times-faster searches than SQL, and data mining matrices more than 20 times faster than Oracle 11g and SQL servers.
