Introduced an agile and iterative testing process while saving costs with Silk solutions

Monash University, a large research university serving nearly 70,000 students and about 16,000 staff across multiple campuses, needed to reduce costly reliance on external testers for its student management, HR, helpdesk and other critical systems. The testing team sought an in-house, automated solution that could cover more protocols and deliver consistent, high-quality reporting—capabilities their existing tools (like JMeter) could not fully provide.

Monash implemented the Micro Focus Silk suite (Silk Central, Silk Test and Silk Performer), integrated into an agile development and testing process with JIRA, supported by tailored training and vendor support. As a result, 95% of projects now undergo performance and load testing before production, most testing is done in-house, costs and cycle times have fallen, product quality and reporting have improved, incidents have decreased, and the university can reliably handle large loads (e.g., 100,000 hits on its Open Day site).
