A OpenText Case Study
Institut Paoli‑Calmettes (IPC) is a regional cancer center in Provence Alpes‑Côte d’Azur, France, with about 1,200 staff, 231 beds and more than 25,000 patients a year. Faced with roughly 1,200 faxes daily—many containing highly sensitive lab results and patient documents—IPC struggled with manual routing that led to misdirected or lost faxes, confidentiality risks and high costs from 112 leased fax machines and their upkeep.
IPC deployed OpenText XM Fax (eight channels) in a phased, department‑by‑department rollout, eliminating the 112 physical machines and routing faxes directly to mailboxes, network directories or copiers, with OCR‑based automatic routing to the correct practitioners. The change improved security and traceability, sped workflows and saved users’ time, removed hardware and supply costs, and delivered an expected payback by the second year.
