Insignia Financial, one of Australia’s largest financial services groups, needed to migrate a 40-year-old, batch-heavy COBOL application used to calculate agents’ commissions after acquiring MLC—without owning mainframe infrastructure. The application included more than 100 COBOL programs and many downstream integrations, and the team faced a hard deadline and high risk if they extended or recreated mainframe capacity.

Working with OpenText Professional Services, Insignia performed an “as‑is” migration using Micro Focus Enterprise Server (with Enterprise Analyzer and Enterprise Developer) to run DB2 on Linux, backed by a proof-of-concept and collaborative testing. The six-month project preserved business continuity, delivered up to 3x better performance, and achieved roughly 90% ongoing operational cost savings versus remaining on the mainframe.
