Innovative data-centric security strategy uses OpenText (formerly Micro Focus) Voltage SecureData to address privacy concerns about the use of personal data

European Insurance Company needed a way to protect customer personal data in its data warehouse and meet data privacy requirements like GDPR without disrupting existing ETL, reporting, and analytics processes. After evaluating other vendors, it chose OpenText SecureData, including its FPE framework, to encrypt and de-identify PII while keeping the data usable for authorized users.

OpenText implemented Voltage SecureData in phases, integrating it with Informatica PowerCenter so PII is encrypted as it enters the warehouse and remains protected until queried by approved users. The solution reduced development effort and avoided major database redesign, saving “years of time and effort,” while enabling the insurer to confidently store and analyze more customer data for compliance and business insights.
