A OpenText Case Study
The Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA), the state’s primary advocacy organization for school leaders, needed a better way for superintendents to share knowledge and collaborate. Their Listserv-driven communication scattered threads, made historical content hard to find, generated email overload, and offered no effective search or organized repository—limiting the association’s ability to capture and reuse collective expertise.
IASA implemented OpenText Social Workplace, a hosted, community-based platform with searchable profiles, topic communities, and document repositories; OpenText pre-populated 17 communities and supplied training resources. Within two months about 10% of the 900 superintendents were actively contributing and another 25–30% were checking in, collaboration and knowledge capture improved, email burden decreased, and the association gained a secure, low‑maintenance hub for ongoing professional learning and resource sharing.
