IBAarau, the main utilities supplier for the district of Aarau, Switzerland, supports about 50,000 households with 270 employees. Although it had long used SAP, information was scattered across departmental file servers, special applications and email owners, creating silos that made access slow, opaque and dependent on SAP-trained “gatekeepers,” which hindered customer response and process transparency.

To fix this, IBAarau deployed OpenText Extended ECM for SAP Solutions (with partner itelligence) to link all digital content directly to SAP transactions and to make documents accessible via SAP, web, Office and file‑explorer interfaces. The result was much faster, easier search and retrieval, improved compliance, clearer end‑to‑end processes, better collaboration and customer service, quick user adoption after brief training, and a plan to retire the old file servers.
