Husky Energy, one of Canada’s largest oil and gas companies with over $25 billion in assets and about 4,100 employees, needed to reduce reliance on paper, attach and view HR documents from SAP, securely store employee files, and meet records compliance without burdening end users. The company also wanted to consolidate many document types into a single repository and avoid retraining staff or changing core processes.

Husky implemented Open Text Extended ECM for SAP Solutions—along with Open Text Document Management, Records Management and Archive Server—integrating content directly into SAP HCM and other SAP modules. SAP metadata drives automated classification and retention, documents are encrypted and access-controlled, and users can view records from SAP without switching systems. The rollout (building on a prior 2.5M-document migration and plans to move 6M+ documents) delivered faster access, seamless compliance, stronger security and cost containment through reuse of existing IT investments.
