HPE identifies and protects web security with Micro Focus Security WebInspect

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) needed to secure a broad set of web and mobile applications on hpe.com that support customer engagement, sales and support processes. Manual testing was time-consuming, error-prone and hard to scale, so HPE required an automated dynamic application security testing (DAST) solution that could mimic real-world attacks and provide actionable, reproducible findings to developers early in the SDLC.

HPE deployed Micro Focus WebInspect and integrated it into their internal security framework to automate guided scans, prioritize vulnerabilities, and produce detailed, customizable reports for developers. The solution enabled faster, more comprehensive testing—HPE completed over 1,800 scans in six months, found as many as 140 critical issues in a single scan, and reduced vetting time by at least half—resulting in stronger protection against risks like XSS, SQL injection, weak encryption and poor error handling while improving team productivity.
