Criteo, a Paris-based performance marketing technology company that processes massive volumes of data (billions of events and ads daily and petabytes under management), needed to improve analytics performance and spread Big Data best practices across the organization. Its initial Hadoop-only approach produced unsatisfactory query performance and made direct reporting impractical, prompting the creation of an analytics center of excellence to drive consistent, business-focused use of data.

Criteo layered the Vertica Analytics Platform on top of Hadoop and formalized a CoE to standardize practices and optimize queries; its Vertica cluster now spans 75 TB on 50 CPU-heavy nodes. The change delivered deeper insights and faster, real-time optimization of display ads, helping Criteo sustain double-digit growth while handling ever-growing data volumes.
