HELLA Reduces Costs, Improves Service By Streamlining B2B E-Commerce Connections With Opentext™ Trading Grid™

HELLA, a top-50 automotive parts supplier headquartered in Germany, develops lighting and electronics for vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket and operates in more than 100 countries. Rapid global growth left the company supporting more than 60 ERP systems and disparate B2B/EDI networks, driving complexity and high support and maintenance costs; HELLA set out to centralize B2B operations at its Lippstadt HQ and find a flexible platform that could serve partners of widely varying technical capabilities.

HELLA standardized on OpenText Trading Grid for the majority of partners (retaining point-to-point links for some strategic customers), consolidating EDI traffic onto a global network that mediates communication differences and delivers real-time data exchange for about 35,000 transactions per day. The move reduced the cost of maintaining multiple networks, streamlined and made operations more reliable, improved timely information exchange, and enabled expanded, follow‑the‑sun global support.
