A OpenText Case Study
Gutenberg Rechenzentrum (GRZ) is a German IT service provider for the media sector (founded 1970, >100 employees) that supports publishers with software, hardware and managed infrastructure. Faced with an aging NetApp tape library that made restores slow (sometimes hours or days) and unable to keep up with growing backup demands, GRZ needed a reliable, automated backup solution that would let them recover accidentally deleted data quickly without incurring excessive costs for their ~70 TB environment.
GRZ replaced tape with HPE StoreOnce systems integrated with OpenText Data Protector, using deduplication to cut full backup volumes to less than 20% of the original size. The solution was deployed in four weeks, enabled faster replication between sites, allowed more frequent incremental backups and image-level protection without extra storage, and reduced recovery times from hours/days to minutes/hours while simplifying central management.
