Preview of the UBS AG Case Study

Global wealth management and banking firm uses Micro Focus® Database and Middleware Automation (DMA) to automate database security patching across its Oracle estate to meet stringent audit/security timelines and eliminate exposure

UBS, a global wealth management and banking firm headquartered in Zurich, needed to automate security patching across its Oracle database estate to meet increasingly stringent audit and security timelines, reduce exposure, and lower the staff hours and risk associated with manual patch cycles.

Micro Focus implemented its Database and Middleware Automation (DMA) solution, trained UBS teams, and certified the Oracle Exadata environment to automate patch planning and deployment. The rollout cut patch windows from 4–6 weeks to under a week, improved patch reliability by ~90%, reduced manual procedures and staffing by about 80% (from 15 to 3 staff per month), increased monthly patch capacity 200% (100 to 300 instances), eliminated audit exposure, and delivered roughly $3M in estimated annual savings.
