A OpenText Case Study
A US-based Fortune 500 bank holding company with global operations and 45 million customer accounts needed to address accessibility failures after acquiring a North American credit card services unit that had faced a lawsuit for not serving visually impaired customers. The bank’s prior opt-in approach (Braille, large print, audio CDs) caused delays and high remediation costs; it required a cost‑effective, on‑demand solution that would integrate with existing AFP high‑volume print streams and meet ADA and WCAG 2.0 Level AA requirements for both historical and new statements.
The bank implemented OpenText Automated Output Accessibility alongside its existing Output Transformation Server/CMOD to tag PDFs on demand, making statements readable by assistive technologies such as JAWS and Window‑Eyes. The solution delivered accessibility for past and current statements with only about a one‑third increase in processing time, achieved WCAG 2.0 AA and ADA compliance, scaled without extra storage, sped delivery, reduced remediation costs, and lowered litigation risk.
