Free State of Saxony - Customer Case Study

The Free State of Saxony, a German state government, needed a central, easy-to-administer search solution to give citizens, businesses and departments fast access to information across hundreds of websites, geodata repositories and centuries of archival records. Their previous system was hard to manage as the number of portals grew and individual departments lacked the expertise to procure and maintain separate search tools.

Working with T‑Systems, Saxony implemented Micro Focus IDOL in under a year to provide a configurable, high-performance search platform that indexes millions of records (web pages, geodata and archival metadata) and crawls updates nightly. The result: faster, more precise and comprehensive search across public portals, geo- and archival datasets; streamlined centralized administration that lowers costs and lets departments tailor solutions; and a future‑proof foundation for new capabilities such as video search.
