Finansbank, a major Turkish bank founded in 1987, needed to strengthen its cybersecurity and fraud-detection capabilities. Although it already used Micro Focus ArcSight ESM to collect security logs, the bank was ingesting more than 120 GB daily from 15,000 sources (2–4 billion rows) in Hadoop and lacked a fast, user-friendly analytics layer to quickly distinguish benign from anomalous behavior.

Finansbank ran a successful proof-of-concept with the Vertica Data Analytics Platform integrated with ArcSight and Hadoop, then deployed Vertica in production. Vertica delivered fast, complex SQL queries in minutes, enabled quick baseline and anomaly detection, simplified report generation and compliance auditing, and let the security team operate analytics without heavy DBA support—improving the bank’s ability to detect and respond to threats.
