Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada’s export credit agency, supporting some 7,000 exporters and investors across nearly 200 markets. As part of a shift to a more customer-centric operating model, EDC’s Enterprise Architecture team assessed its application portfolio and core value chain and discovered deeply siloed business applications, redundant processes, and limited data sharing that hindered collaboration and service delivery.

EDC selected OpenText ProVision to build a comprehensive EA metamodel, map the full value chain, and decompose functions down to service-level components. The ProVision models produced a practical SOA roadmap and secured executive buy-in for legacy modernization, enabling integration of systems, elimination of duplicate functionality, reduced IT administrative overhead, and clearer alignment of IT investments to business strategy—delivering improved data sharing and a more customer-focused IT architecture.
