Case Study: Essent achieves rapid, low-risk data center consolidation with OpenText PlateSpin

A OpenText Case Study

Preview of the Essent Case Study

Essent used PlateSpin workload management technology from OpenText to consolidate its servers in a new data center, saving approximately €2 million

Essent needed a way to simplify its data center consolidation, including both physical-to-virtual and physical-to-physical server migrations. Using OpenText PlateSpin technology, the company aimed to move from heterogeneous HP hardware to a more standardized infrastructure while minimizing disruption and supporting ongoing operations.

OpenText implemented PlateSpin Recon and PlateSpin Migrate to inventory the environment, plan the migration, and execute the workload moves. Essent migrated 260 server workloads and 50 physical machines to VMware ESX virtual machines in one month, reduced floor space by 8%, completed the project with fewer than eight people, and saved about €2 million on the consolidation alone.
