A OpenText Case Study
hMetrix is a 12-year-old, 70-person healthcare BI and data science company that helps payers, providers, employers, hospitals, and agencies manage data, risk, and reimbursements. As care moves to value-based models, hMetrix needed to rapidly staff and deploy infrastructure capable of ingesting and analyzing massive Medicare/Medicaid claims and clinical datasets to power self-service care-manager tools and Episode Analytics—workloads that exceeded the velocity and volume limits of their MySQL environment.
By moving to the OpenText Vertica analytics platform in the cloud (AWS), hMetrix gained a scalable, high-performance database that handles 100+ TB of raw data and billions of records in real time, integrates with Tableau, and delivers up to 70x faster query response. The change enabled 50% more customers, reduced infrastructure and administration costs (eliminating a full-time DBA), and supported new revenue-generating products such as a cloud-based mental-health monitoring application.
