Digital Loan Files Accelerate Processes at Commerzbank and Speed Integration of Acquisitions

Commerzbank, a leading German bank that expanded rapidly through acquisitions like Dresdner Bank, faced slow, costly loan processing because customer records were scattered in paper folders with varied structures across many locations. The bank needed a scalable, high-performance digital files solution that would integrate with its transaction systems and workflows to enable fast, cross-location access and consistent processing.

Commerzbank deployed OpenText Document Access and OpenText Archiving for SAP, digitizing more than 800,000 loan files (about 100 million documents) with ~20,000 new documents scanned daily and full SAP integration. The solution provides sub-two-second document access, automated workflows and deadline notifications, audit-ready archiving, and seamless integration with internal credit systems—reducing paper-archive costs, speeding processes, boosting user acceptance with minimal training, and improving customer service and quality while easing post-acquisition integration.
