DEP capability in ZENworks Configuration Management delivers a seamless Apple device deployment and configuration program

Isendoorn College, a bilingual secondary school in the Netherlands with 1,800 students, needed a reliable way to manage a mix of student‑owned iPads and school‑owned Windows devices so every pupil could access the same apps and configurations. The IT team sought Apple DEP functionality inside OpenText ZENworks Configuration Management to enable zero‑touch enrollment and consistent, centralized device management.

By joining OpenText’s Lighthouse beta for ZENworks 2017 Update 1 the college implemented DEP ahead of schedule and deployed 380 student iPads over the summer. The rollout was seamless—only five support requests—and delivered better performance and app synchronization than the previous Apple MDM, a unified multiplatform management workflow, scalability to an anticipated 2,000 devices, and a cost‑effective education license.
