Case Study: SYNNEX Infotec achieves faster, lower-cost data protection with OpenText

Data Protector and HPE StoreOnce helps reduce backup volumes and costs

SYNNEX Infotec faced growing backup challenges as its virtualization environment expanded, making it harder to manage and protect both virtual and physical systems efficiently. The company worked with OpenText, using Data Protector alongside an HPE StoreOnce 4500 System, to move away from tape-based backup and unify its data protection approach.

OpenText’s solution centralized backup management, added deduplication, and simplified operations across environments while lowering costs. The results were significant: backup times fell from more than 24 hours to 4 hours, backup data shrank from 200 TB to 11 TB, and SYNNEX Infotec estimated savings of about 60% on license costs and 70% on maintenance costs.
